Sharing and growing – A new way of building together

CAP Ireland is built on the work of volunteers. Without local church volunteers there is no way to practically help people struggling with their finances. But it can be a bit difficult being spread across the country, Coaches and Befrienders may face barriers or feel a little isolated.

To support our volunteers better we want to connect them with each other, something that they asked for in our 2025 volunteer survey.

We want to build a new Community of Practice. A dedicated volunteer space—a place where our volunteers can share encouragement and knowledge and grow as Money Coaches and Befrienders. In this way we believe the mission can move even deeper, extending outwards from our church partners into their local communities.

Beyond the Coach Guide: Building a Movement of Pioneers

Our church partners have the vision to help people struggling with their finances. Their local volunteers step forward filled with curiosity and faith to take part in our Induction training. They usually finish that training with a hopeful heart, a Coach Guide, and the resources they need to get started.

For some, they get started quite quickly and it may look easy.

But we know it’s not always as simple as it may seem.

Inside every volunteer’s story is a wealth of experience: the barriers faced and overcome through prayer; the inspired practical ideas that solve local problems; and those sacred glimpses into people’s lives as they find hope for their finances.

That is a wealth of experience we want to tap into.

We know that for others, the heart is willing to serve, but things haven’t quite worked out yet. CAP Ireland staff are always here to give encouragement and support. But connecting with other volunteers who have been in our shoes can be a significant support too. They face exactly the same situations as we do, can pray with understanding, and will have ideas to help us move forward.
